This weekend sees the opening round of the 2016 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup taking place in the freezing cold conditions of arctic Russia, with the 12th staging of the Northern Forrest Baja.

For those unfamiliar with the event, there will at least be one familiar face in Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) General Manager Ronan Morgan, who for the second year running, joins the event as Clerk of the Course, overseeing all sporting operations.

“Sergey Lebedev, who is the Event Director, invited me last year to come assist on the event, and I jumped at the opportunity,” said Morgan.

“It’s a fantastic part of the world to visit and as the only snow event in the championship, the exact opposite of what I am used to in the UAE! It is a really enjoyable event to be a part of and there is a great team involved with it, and I’m very grateful to have been invited back this year.”

The Northern Forrest Baja takes place from the 20th to the 22nd February 2016. Upon its completion, Morgan will immediately return to the UAE to continue planning and preparations for the 26th Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge as the second round of the championship, and for which he is also Clerk of the Course.
